Aftercare for Lip Blush

First 24 Hours:

  • Clean: Gently cleanse your lips with sterile or distilled water every hour to remove excess fluid and prevent heavy scabbing

  • Moisturize: Before bedtime, apply a thin layer of Aquaphor, Grape-seed oil, or Tattoo-goo ointment to keep your lips moisturized.

  • If at ANY time after the treatment you experience a combination of the following symptoms: PAIN, DISCHARGE, INCREASED TISSUE TEMPERATURE, EXCESSIVE REDNESS or RED LINES, and/or SWELLING, this could be a sign of infection and you should seek medical attention immediately

Days 2-7:

  • Swelling and Bruising: Mild swelling and bruising are normal and should subside within a few days.

  • Continue to Moisturize: Apply the recommended ointment 5 times a day or as much as possible to maintain hydration.

  • Avoid Picking: Allow any scabbing or peeling to occur naturally; do not pick at scabs, as this can affect color retention.

General Guidelines During Healing:

  • Hydration: Keep your lips moisturized throughout the healing process to promote healing and color retention.

  • Sun Protection: Avoid sun exposure and refrain from using sunbeds until your lips are fully healed. Once healed, apply SPF to the treated area to prevent premature fading.

  • Avoid Whitening toothpaste

  • Avoid Certain Products: Do not use products containing AHA’s, Vitamin A, Retinol A, Glycolic/Lactic Acids on the treated area, as they can cause premature fading.

  • Dietary Considerations: Avoid spicy foods and drinking directly from cups (use a straw) to prevent irritation.

  • Physical Activities Refrain from activities that may cause excessive sweating or expose your lips to bacteria, such as hot yoga, swimming in chlorinated pools, or the ocean until fully healed. Avoid gardening and contact with animals.

  • Cosmetic Use: Avoid applying makeup to the treated area until it has fully healed to prevent infection.

Touch-Up Session:

  • A touch-up is recommended between 8-12 weeks after the initial procedure to refine color and shape.

Additional Notes:

  • Healing times can vary; some may experience peeling and color changes for up to 4 weeks.

  • Individual results may vary, and factors such as sun exposure, skin type, and aftercare adherence can influence healing and color retention.

**Cold Sore Management:** If you have a history of cold sores, consult your technician about antiviral medications to minimize the risk of an outbreak.

• No Retinols, AHA’s, exfoliating treatments, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, botox and any other strong treatments for 6-8 weeks after your procedure.

• Smoking WILL cause the pigment to fade prematurely and anesthetics will not last as long.

•  DO NOT USE growth enhancement products such as Latisse, Revitabrow, Grandelash, one month prior and after treatment has fully healed as it may shift your color or cause hyperpigmentation.

IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER:

• WHILE YOUR SKIN HEALS, BE PREPARED FOR THE COLOR TO INTENSITY AND TO BE SIGNIFICANTLY LARGER, SHARPER, BRIGHTER, OR DARKER than what is expected for the final outcome. This is a normal and expected result of the application and healing process. The healing process will take a number of days to complete, depending on how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates and new skin regrows to take its place.

• The color CAN AND WILL fade/soften anywhere from 10% to 50% or more

• Some residual swelling is normal for ALL procedures.  Swelling and healing time is individualized. It can be minimal on clients but every client is different. Blanching (whiteness around the treatment area) and redness is to be expected and can vary from client to client. It can last a few hours to a few days.

• The area may appear uneven, dry, itchy, tender, red & irritated. This is all 100% normal. DO NOT PICK.  These symptoms will dissipate each day and vary on an individual basis.

• Picking can lift color and pigment from the treated area resulting in unevenness and blank spots. Let the brows flake off naturally.

• Your brows may not exfoliate evenly. Please do not pick at the scabs. During the exfoliation process your color may look weak, orangey, pinkish, or grey. This will not be your final result. It takes a full 6 weeks or more for your true color to surface. Please be patient and wait until you are fully healed before you critique your eyebrows. Any refinements can be addressed at a follow up visit.

• Healing is specific to each client. It is important to realize that you will need a color boost every 2 years to maintain its fresh natural appearance. Fading WILL happen after each procedure. We do not have control over your bodies healing process.

• After about a week, the skin will be in its healing stage and may appear white or milky. This will give the pigment a cloudy appearance.

• Everyone’s genetics, physiological makeup, and lifestyle will affect the treatment in various unique ways. You may need to powder and/or pencil your eyebrows even after the healed results.  This is an enhancement to your natural brows.... not a permanent one.

• If you are out in the sun a lot, have oily skin, use anti-aging creams,

Retin-A /retinol products, acidic cleansers, natural elements, regular chemical peels, or exercise frequently, your permanent makeup WILL fade prematurely.  The better you take care of the treated area and follow the provided aftercare, the longer it will last.

• Remember, no two sides of the face are the same or perfectly symmetrical. While trying to obtain perfect symmetry is our goal, note that nothing is PERFECT.

• When you leave the studio your shaded eyebrows and/or your hair strokes are intact. Remember your technician will do their best to help you heal properly but lifestyle, genetics, age, and certain environmental factors can/will contribute to the retention of your eyebrows.

• Follow up visits should be done within 6-8 weeks after your initial treatment
